History
Founded through collaboration with Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND), based in Beirut (Lebanon), and which provides space, facilities, financial services and specialized staff.
Aims
Identify and address the needs of social scientists and social science communities in the Arab countries; enhance social science capacities of individual researchers, as well as academic and research institutions; encourage production of independent, high quality research in the Arab region; provide forums for exchange and communication among social scientists in the Arab region; articulate and support the role of the social sciences in promoting the public interest; support effective networks among research, academic, policy and practitioners’ communities as well as with the public and the media.
