Global Civil Society & the UN Sustainable Development Goals

UIA is proud to present the new Volume 6 of the Yearbook of International Organizations, entitled Global Civil Society and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

There can be little question as to the relevance of the new topic. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (the UN SDGs) are informed by and in turn inform all global civil society actors. What, we asked, is the link between these actors and the UN SDGs? Which of the UN SDGs concern them? With which SDGs should they be concerned? What communities of international bodies form around each of the SDGs?

This is the early result of UIA’s exploration of these questions. It is but a first step in a work in progress. In the course of the next year – indeed, in the coming years – we will continue to refine the methodology used and give ever greater clarity to the scope and composition of these new communities.
