In September 2026 about 25,000 international associations are being invited to take part in the next UIA Survey on International Association Meeting Issues, exploring their approach to organizing meetings and conferences.
Recent years have seen much disruption in terms of planning and running events, with the effects of the covid pandemic, rapid developments in technology and changing attitudes to travel, that the regularity of meetings has been challenged. Our Survey investigates current thinking and considerations when meetings feature on the programme for international associations.
If you are involved in an international association, your participation in this Survey is important so please do respond – you will receive a copy of the report.
For conference venues, congress organizers and convention bureaus, the report will be generally available, free of charge, in November.

UIA Survey 2024

The UIA Survey on International Association Meeting Issues canvasses international associations representing civic, charitable, commercial or industrial interests around the world on their behavior and opinions pertaining to their meetings and conference organization. It was first held in 1985, and most recently in 2023.
The UIA Survey on International Association Meeting Issues – 2024 continues to explore on the changed approach of associations, when planning and organizing their international events.
For the UIA Survey 2024 about 25,000 international associations were invited to participate.

It was first held in 1985, and most recently in 2018.
Of special note: some of the responses were received during Q1 of 2020, including before any impact of Covid-19 was evident. In light of this and the ongoing issues caused by the pandemic response, we will survey the associations again in 2021.

The Survey on International Meeting Issues is a periodic (every three to five years), large-scale survey covering multiple aspects of meetings held by international organizations and associations. The survey is designed to help all involved in the process of organizing international meetings to get a sense of changes over the years and the challenges of the current environment.
