History
Founded 1987. Activities commenced 1990. Also referred to as World Pool Association. In Jan 1992, united with C-XD3479 - World Billiards Union and C-XC0035 - World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) in umbrella organization, B-XB0059 - World Confederation of Billiards Sports (WCBS).
Aims
Unite world pool-billiards associations into one intercontinental association; promote pool-billiards as a world-wide international sport; supervise the WPA World Championships; cultivate mutual friendship with all types or international and national billiards organizations; support and encourage the development of all disciplines of pool-billiards as an international sport; adopt a sport policy which is not in conflict with the rules set forth in the Olympic Charter.
