24 Aug 1907, Stuttgart (Germany). Suspended during World War I, the H-XH5263 - International of the Socialist Youth was set up May 1923, Hamburg (Germany). Activities were again suspended during World War II. Re-established under its current name, 30 Sep 1946, Paris (France). Structural changes: Oct 1954, Copenhagen (Denmark); Oct 1957, Rome (Italy); Oct 1960, Vienna (Austria); Aug 1963, Oslo (Norway); Jun 1966, Vienna; Dec 1969, Rome; Jun 1973, Malta; Sep 1991, Sec (Czechoslovakia); Nov 1993, Montevideo (Uruguay). Current Statutes adopted by 21st Congress, 1995, Modena (Italy); 22nd Congress, Nov 1997, Lillehammer (Norway). Part of the general U-XF0768 - International Youth Movement. Registered in accordance with Austrian law.

Aims

Propagate the principles of free and democratic socialism amongst the younger generation; further practical cooperation among democratic socialist youth and student organizations of all countries so as to strengthen international solidarity among young socialists worldwide in the fight against fascism, racism, discrimination and for the liberation of man and particularly women from all exploitation and for the right of all peoples to free and independent development, for protection of environment and for human rights.
