Founded under current name, 1Jan 1963, on merger of (USA) Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE), founded 1912, and the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE), founded 1884. Constitution most recently amended, 15 Dec 1998.

Advance the theory and practice of electrical, electronics and computer engineering and computer science.
