History
as the ultimate goal of the economic cooperation activities of C-XC4129 - Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Charter of the Organization of OIC, approved Feb 1972, reiterates the necessity for community-wide economic progress and the need to help individual member states to develop their productive capacities at an accelerated pace. Major economic issues are regularly on the agenda of the annual K-XF4192 - Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM). Has also been referred to as Muslim Common Market and Common Market of the Muslim World.
Aims
Create powerful economic entities capable of facing the challenges emanating from the emergence of huge economic blocs; achieve structural transformation of OIC countries' economies in order to attain economic efficiency and social welfare.
