History
Founded at 13th International Ophthalmological Congress. Statutes adopted 1930, Geneva (Switzerland). No activities reported since 2018.
Aims
Promote research, diagnosis and prevention of trachoma; provide a scientific basis for the fight against trachoma by circulating information on current trachoma research and supplying the latest information on etiology, diagnosis, epidemiology, prevention and treatment; facilitate adoption of sanitary and other regulations aimed at implementing the fight against trachoma; promote the SAFE Strategy (developed by WHO) by promoting individual and environmental changes.
