The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Founded by 4 political groups of the European Parliament and peace, women's and church organizations from all over Europe. Ceased to exist.

Aims

Initiate a process of reconciliation with and among peoples living in the Gulf and Middle East region; affirm human rights, democracy and national rights in all states of the area and in favour of all peoples including those having at present no national state of their own; implement a systematic programme for disarmament, starting with all means of mass extermination and leading to a ban on arms trade in the region and conversion of arms industries; achieve a just distribution of oil-derived resources in the region and diminished dependence on oil imports in industrialized countries; promote reopening of dialogue and close cooperation among European countries and peoples with peoples of the Gulf area and Middle East; strengthen reform and democratization of the United Nations.
