The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Feb 1980, by the Governors of the 2 American Territories of American Samoa and Guam, the (currently) Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the State of Hawaii (USA). In fact, it is an extension of territorial and state governments in the Pacific. By-Laws adopted 3 Oct 1980; amended 5 Nov 1983. Incorporated under State of Hawaii laws; headquartered in Honolulu HI (USA). In the process of being reorganized 2000. No activities reported since.

Aims

Identify, examine and assess the economic and regional development needs and strategies, and, with particular attention to member entities, articulate the view of the region to the public and private sectors; provide a research capacity that can address the important issues within the Pacific community; promote cooperation between member entities, Federal government, and the private sector in an effort to provide for the comprehensive economic and social development of the Pacific Islands; collect and disseminate information beneficial to the region; promote collective action that improves the quality of life for the Pacific Islands and the member entities by addressing their social, economic, and other needs in cooperation with the Federal government and the private sector.
