Founded

1979

History

Founded by 11 members. Proposed during 9th INTOSAI Congress, 1977, Lima (Peru), by Mr Tantuico, then Chairman of the SAI Philippines. Charter adopted and signed, Sep 1978, by Heads of 9 Asian SAIs who attended a seminar hosted by the Deutsche Stiftung für Internationale Enwicklung (DSE), Berlin (Germany). First Assembly and Governing Board meeting held May 1979, Delhi (India), when Rules and Regulations were approved. One of 7 regional groups of: B-XB2329 - International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).

Aims

Promote understanding and cooperation among member institutions through the exchange of ideas and experiences in the field of public audit; provide facilities for training and continuing education for government auditors with a view to improving the quality of their performance; serve as a centre of information and as a regional link with organizations and institutions in other parts of the world in the field of public audit; promote closer collaboration and brotherhood among auditors in the service of the government of the respective member institutions and among regional groups.
