11 Jun 1977, Geneva (Switzerland), on adoption of constitution. Constitution most recently amended 2003. Registered in accordance with Swiss law. No activities reported since association with Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (GFMER), several years prior to 2015.
Aims
Elaborate and support projects for better obstetric and neonatal care, mainly at primary health care level, emphasizing: support for emergency obstetric care; antenatal care; reduction of high-risk pregnancies through advice and care for family planning; increased attendance of women by midwives.

General Assembly (every 3 years, at Congress), consists of delegates of National Sections. Executive Board (meeting once a year) comprises the Officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary General, Treasurer) and delegates, one each from each of the 5 regions: Africa/Middle East; Asia/Pacific; North America and non-Spanish-speaking Caribbean; Latin America; Europe.
