Founded at 1st International Congress of Agricultural Engineering. Activities interrupted 1939-1945; reorganization commenced in 1946.

Statutes changed 2 Oct 1958, Brussels (Belgium); modified: 9 Mar 1964, Lausanne (Switzerland); 1969, Baden-Baden (Germany FR); 26 Sep 1974, Flevohof (Netherlands); 12 Jul 1979, East Lansing MI (USA); 7 Sep 1989, Dublin (Ireland); 1994, Milan (Italy) - effective 1 Jan 1995; 2000, Tsukuba (Japan) - effective 1 jan 2001. New statutes adopted, 3 Sep 2008, Iguaçu (Brazil) - effective 1 Jan 2009. Present statutes effective 1 Jan 2017; revised 2016, Aarhus (Denmark).

Aims

Promote the art, science and technology of agricultural engineering; encourage and coordinate research; promote creation and activities of national and regional associations of agricultural engineers, technicians and architects; facilitate relations and exchange of research results and technology among specialists in the field; encourage education, training and mobility of young professionals; constitute a documentation source and assist in publishing information useful for members.
