History

Aims
The goal of the 'Plan of Action of the Decade' is to: revitalize the notion of culture in contemporary societies and raise it to the same level of concern as economic growth and social well-being; make the cultural dimension of development generally acknowledged among the decision-makers of the world. The Committee aims to: be responsible, within UNESCO's fields of competence, for the stimulating, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the Plan of Action of the Decade; propose measures that it feels will contribute to the smooth running and success of the Decade.
