History

Established 21 July 1921, Brussels (Belgium), as Standing Committee for International Congresses of Military Medicine and Pharmacy -- Comité permanent des congrès internationaux de médecine et de pharmacie militaires. Name changed, 1938, Luxembourg, to International Committee of Military Medicine and Pharmacy (ICMMP) -- Comité international de médecine et de pharmacie militaires (CIMPM). Present name adopted 1990. Previous Spanish title: Comité Internacional de Medicina Militar (CIMM). Statutes adopted 1930; modified: 1938, Liège (Belgium); 1954, Luxembourg; 1996, Beijing (China); 2007, Tunis (Tunisia); 2009, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia); 2013, Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

Aims

In the spirit of the Geneva Conventions, maintain and strengthen permanent professional collaboration among those whose mission is to improve the circumstances and relieve the suffering of the military sick and wounded in war and in peace time; campaign to develop international medical law.
