Taipei’s natural landscape, diverse culture and lifestyle offerings set to entice MICE events and delegates

Taipei - one of the top meetings and conference destinations in Asia Pacific offers excellent event infrastructure and in addition, is drawing MICE events and delegates with its close proximity to natural landscapes, diverse cultural experiences and upmarket lifestyle offerings.

Over 160 conferences, exhibitions, and incentive travel groups have chosen Taipei as their host destination in 2023. This is testament to the work that the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government has done to build Taipei’s reputation as the preferred MICE destination in the Asia Pacific region. With over 40,000 accommodation rooms across the city, organizers are also spoiled for choice with a vast selection of meetings and event venues. In addition to traditional venues like the Taipei International Convention Center, Taipei World Trade Center, and Nangang Exhibition Hall, Taipei City also houses a selection of unconventional spaces that showcases unique cultural elements of its history and heritage. For example, The Grand Hotel which is the first five-star hotel in Taiwan is housed in one of the world’s tallest Chinese classical buildings, and has witnessed many of Taiwan’s history and demographic progress. The 500 room hotel also includes multiple meeting spaces with The Grand Ballroom accommodating up to 1,000 delegates. In recent years, the Taipei Performing Arts Center and Taipei Pop Music Center have become Taipei’s arts and cultural hub. The Taipei Performing Arts Center was selected by Time Magazine as one of the world's top 100 attractions in 2021. MICE event organizers may be eligible to apply for event sponsorship through the Department’s support scheme. Eligible applicants who meet the criteria may receive up to NT$2 million to stage an international MICE event in Taipei.

Taipei is one of the most welcoming cities in the world with friendly locals hailing from diverse backgrounds. Taipei City won the 2023 Crescent Rating "Most Promising Muslim-Friendly City Destination of the Year (Non-Organization of Islamic Cooperation). Currently, Taipei city has more than 60 Muslim-friendly accommodation and restaurants, and more than 30 attractions and public places have prayer rooms or purification facilities .In addition, Taipei also hosts the annual Pride March every October with over over 100,000 people participating to celebrate LGBTQ+ equality.

According to the 2022 International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) ranking, Taipei City ranks 3rd amongst 62 cities in the Asia Pacific region and ranks 25th amongst cities globally. Taipei also ranks 4th in the Numbeo’s safety index for 2023.
