Subject: SDG Conference Background/Registration Procedure

United Nations SDG conference secretariat has received your acceptance letter to the conference invitation. As an invited participant to the UN World Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) conference starting from 12-16 May, 2014 at the International Convention Center (ICC) London United Kingdom, I hereby send you the registration form and registration procedure. Read the outlined procedure about registration, accommodation, visa, and flight ticket for the UN SDG conference. Follow this procedure accordingly for your registration to be processed at the earliest possible time.

Conference Background:
One of the main outcome of the Rio+20 Conference held in Brazil in June, 2012 was the agreement by member States and representatives of various organization to launch a process to develop a set of Sustainable Development Goal, which will build upon the Millennium Development Goals and converge with the post 2015 development agenda. It was decided to establish an "inclusive and transparent intergovernmental process open to all stakeholders, with a view to developing global sustainable development goals to be agreed by the General Assembly".

The process of arriving at this new framework is Member State-led with broad participation from external stakeholders such as civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and businesses, academia and scientists. The United Nations has played a facilitating role in this global conversation and has the responsibility of supporting individuals and organizations by providing evidence-based inputs, analytical thinking and field experience.

Conference Issues:

- Oceans and seas, forests, biodiversity

- Promoting equality, including social equity, gender equality and women's empowerment

- Conflict prevention, post-conflict peace-building and the promotion of durable peace, rule of law and governance

Registration Guideline:
Conference registration is strictly for invited individuals and organizations only. As an invitee, you have received your invitation number [UN-SDG/957/14] together with a registration form in this mail. Download and fill the attached registration form with the required information. Submit your completed registration form directly to me Dr. Mrs. Shamshad Akhtar (Conference Organizing Secretary) via e-mail: secretary@sdg-un.org

All filled registration form should be returned by e-mail: secretary@sdg-un.org not later than 4 working days from the date of this publication (today). Early submission of registration form is advised. Conference registration is on a first-come first-served basis. Group registration of between One to Three persons (1-3 persons) from the same organization is allowed.

Paper Presentation:
If you wish to make a paper presentation at the conference, you are advised to submit your paper abstract directly to the conference Paper review and Technical committee via e-mail: secretary@sdg-un.org. Abstract should not be more than 300 words.

Visa:
If you need visa to UK, you are strongly advised to indicate in your registration form. United Nations will assist you to procure a six (6) months British visitors visa through the UK Bureau of Visa Services and UK Border Agency. Visa authorization letter would be issued to you so as to enable you obtain your travel visa from the British embassy or any other British visa issuing authority in your country within Five (9) working days.

Air Flight Ticket:
UN have made available "free" air flight tickets for invited participants only. Flights would be routed from participants destination city to London and from London back to participants destination city (To & Fro). British airways (BA) and KLM airlines are the official airlines that will airlift conference participants to London. A ticket collection code will be given to you for collection of your air ticket at any of the airline's ticket office nearest to you in your city. London is served by many international flights, In countries where British Airways or KLM airline do not operate, alternative flight would be provided.

Accommodation:
You are responsible for your hotel accommodation and feeding in London for the 5 days event. For efficient coordination and movement of participants from hotel to conference venue, You are advised to make your accommodation booking at any hotel that is nearest to the conference venue. We recommend These two (2) hotels that are walking distance to the conference venue.

Your accommodation reservation receipt is required as a prerequisite for booking of your flight ticket. Therefore, you must show evidence of your hotel accommodation booking receipt before collecting your flight ticket.

Transportation:
Free transportation service has been arranged by the British Council for Culture and Tourism to participating individuals and representatives of various organizations. This service will shuttle between airport, hotels and Conference venue. A copy of the initial invitation letter received from the United Nations would be required to access this service.

Access and Accreditation:
Access to the conference hall would be granted to you upon presentation of a valid conference badge issued by the United Nations. Participants holding a conference badge are subject to screening at the main entrance of the Conference hall.

Language Translation:
Simultaneous translation will be provided in the following languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic and Chinese.
