History
Founded to confederate U-XD3400 - International Federation of Popular Music Publishers (IFPMP) and U-XD1273 - International Federation of Serious Music Publishers (IFSMP), both then being based at ICMP offices for secretariat purposes. From 1999, IFPMP and IFSMP ceased to exist as independent bodies, functioning rather as popular and serious music bureaux in the ICMP/CIEM framework.
Aims
Increase the level of copyright protection internationally; encourage a better environment for the music publishing business; influence legislation; act as an industry forum for consolidating global positions.
