Founded after a preliminary meeting, 12 Jul 1928, Paris.

Aims

Fight for eradication of all forms of discrimination against women and promote their human rights; promote and divulge knowledge of the above mentioned fundamental principles; encourage and help members in their activities with parliaments, governments or any other competent authority, as well as public opinion in order to get the above mentioned principles embodied in national legislation and applied at a practical level in the judicial system and in social administration; assemble information about the juridical, social and economical status of women worldwide and study all laws affecting that status; promote establishment of bonds of friendship and unity between members as well as with other international women's organizations and international jurists associations; contribute to promotion of peace in the world, as an indispensable support to obtain an equal and conscientious progress of humanity.
