The following provides more in-depth information about the Calendar editorial process and content.

Sources of Information

Compiling information for the International Congress Calendar involves a year-round process of research and editing. All entries are subject to correction from the organization which receives a proof. Proofs of organization descriptions which include meetings entries are sent out by post, email and fax for the organizations themselves to correct. The average response rate is 35%, ensuring highly reliable information. Proofs are supplemented with information from websites, annual reports, newsletters and other documents.

Editorial Treatment

The events of international organizations in the Calendar are based on information received from a variety of sources. Priority is normally given to information received from the organizations themselves, and every effort is made by the editors to check this information against other sources (periodicals, official documents, media, etc).

Content

The meetings profiled are the key regional and multi-continental meetings of Intergovernmental Organizations (IGOs) and International Nongovernmental Organizations (INGOs) worldwide. Also included are national meetings with a large international participation.

Meeting entries include the following information (when available):

Sections in the Print Calendar

Each volume of the print Calendar is divided into three sections:

Geographical Section

Events are listed by country in which they will take place, and, within each country, by city, and within each city, by date. Countries and cities are listed in alphabetical order, dates in chronological order of starting date.

Chronological Section

Events are listed by date on which they will open, and, within each date, by country, and within each country, by city. Dates are listed in chronological order, countries and cities in alphabetical order.

Analytical Index

The index includes significant keywords in the organization name, in the event name, and in the theme of the event. Each index entry includes the country, city, and date of the event so that further information can be found by referring to the geographical and chronological sections.
