The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Apr 1971, Paris (France). Registered in accordance with French law, and also in Geneva (Switzerland) in accordance with Swiss Civil Code. Ceased to exist, 2011.

Aims

Promote study and research on medical and biological problems concerning the environment.

Activities

Organizes international, regional and national courses and symposia. Works through Committees on Biological and Medical Problems related to: application of new technologies; habitat; oceans; developing countries in their process of industrialization and urbanization; urban, rural and maritime life; car and industrial effluents and their effects on health; ecogenetics; ecotoxicology; new proteins for human use; noise and health; production and consumption of drugs; data banks on environment. Maintains World Office of Information on Environmental Problems (WOIEP). Instrumental in setting up: AWARE International; International Center for Industrial Eco-Monitoring; Universities United for the Environment.
