Appendix 4.8 of the International Associations Statutes Series vol 1, UIA eds (1988)

A proposal for a draft convention was presented by Suzanne Bastid to the 44th Session of the Institute of International Law (Bath, 1950). The proposal was adopted by the Institute with support from international lawyers in both civil and common law countries. States have shown no publically registered interest in the draft of which the text follows.

A member of the Institute of International Law, Nicolas Politis, developed the earlier proposals by von Bar from 1912 (see Appendix 4.1) and presented them in a report to the Institute (1). The resulting draft convention on the legal condition of international associations was unanimously approved during the fiftieth anniversary session of the Institute in Brussels in 1923.
