My favourite spots: Top restaurants:

Casa da Feijoada is one of Rio's most traditional restaurants, and has been in Ipanema for 18 years offering its specialty - Feijoada - every day of the week. One possible origin of the feijoada is that it was first created by slaves, who mixed pork leftovers from the master's table with black beans. To accompany this immersion into Brazilian gastronomy, the inimitable "caipirinha" made with special "cachaça", aged in oak barrels.

La Fiducia is the perfect interpretation of the typical fine Italian restaurant, a perfect choice for those who enjoy an eno-gastronomic harmonization. A restaurant that recaptures the glamour of Copacabana, serving a cuisine of excellent quality to its customers at fair prices with a first class service. The Maître-Sommelier, Valmir Pereira, a full hand professional, will help choose the right wine among 220 labels from his cellar.

Top bars:

Conveniently located inside Shopping Leblon, Rio's finest Shopping Center, the Botequim Informal is the best from the chain of bars since its opening in 2000. Light and creamy draft beer (chope) is the bar's trademark. The drink flows from the taps - one for the liquid, and the other for the foam, which preserves the flavor and keeps the drink cold as you drink it. The chef Mara Cury is in charge of the casseroles and offers tasters and finger food that have captured the Carioca public.

Tall, tan, young and lovely, the Girl from Ipanema goes walking and when she passes each one goes uhhhhhh! Located in the noblest area of the South Zone, near the beach, the Garota de Ipanema (Girl from Ipanema) got famous by the maestro Tom Jobim's song and Vinícius poetry. One of the most traditional bars in Ipanema offers you a very cold draft beer, national and international dishes, delicious appetizers, a selection of special wines and the usual good service. A good spot to watch "cariocas" walking to and from the beach.

The Lounge, Bar dos Descasados, open under the arches of the former slave quarters of the mansion, is an ideal place for romance or to enjoy the Bar’s exclusive cocktails amongst friends. For those who appreciate natural beauty, the sunset seen from the bar is simply unforgettable, which can be enjoyed with the best cachaças (sugar cane brandy) or a fine wine from their cellar.

Hot spot:

In the heart of Lapa, the historical district of Rio, Lavradio street offers an amazing selection of antique shops, bars and restaurants, live music for all tastes. Every first Saturday of each month, the antiques are displayed outside until the early hours. From the wide list of bars for you to choose from, the Rio Scenarium music bar is a must. Certainly it will make you feel that they've been around forever and give you a flavour of the city's diverse neighborhoods…
