My favourite spots:

Top restaurants:

The Indonesian restaurant Garoeda has existed for almost 65 years and is one of the city’s true icons. The restaurant is located in the centre of The Hague in an impressive building on the Kneuterdijk. Savour a delicious rice table here!

Mero: For over 25 years the address in Scheveningen when you enjoy high quality fish. Located in the harbour with a view over the fishing boats. Close to the source, fresher fish is almost impossible. The modern restaurant breathes fish. With large artworks of fishes on the wall honest dishes are being prepared from the open kitchen. Dishes with respect for fish, with honest flavours. The fish has been caught in environmentally friendly fashion as much as possible.

Situated in Scheveningen yacht harbour,The Harbour Club Scheveningen is in its own way an acknowledgement of the old fish market of days gone by. It offers a wide range of delicious fresh fish from all over the world. The Harbour Club, situated right on the quay, boasts a design that is industrial, contemporary, American and trendy. But it is the restaurant in particular that is a fine reminder of the days of the old fish market. No surprise then that fresh fish dominates the menu.

Top bars:

Taste, the wine bar is housed in one of the most beautiful locations in The Hague, across from the Hofvijver (Court Pond). Taste is an exclusive location for the wine lover who is searching for special wines or wishes to enjoy a good glass of wine among friends. Your hosts in Taste, the wine bar strive after supplying you with service that is almost ‘non-Dutch’. There are more than 200 different types of wine on the wine list, of which over 50 are available by the glass.

Millers hotspot: Eat, drink and dance in style! Not only can you enjoy a delicious lunch, a sociable drink or a delicious dinner at Millers: it has become a hotspot for enjoying the wee small hours. At Millers you can enjoy a special evening in a retro chic and relaxed atmosphere.

Top three hot spots:

Panorama Mesdag: The oldest panorama in the world is by painter Mesdag and can be seen in The Hague. The panorama canvas, which measures 120m x 14m, shows a view of the North Sea, the dunes and Scheveningen. It was painted in 1881 by Mesdag and his wife Sientje. The museum is currently undergoing thorough renovation work (although it can still be visited) to create space for an educational room, a new exhibition hall and a restaurant. Work is expected to be completed before the summer and the fully renovated and extended Panorama Mesdag is more than worth a visit.

Escher in The Palace: Escher in The Palace permanently exhibits the world famous, highly imaginative images of artist M.C. Escher and is housed in the former winter palace of Queen Mother Emma. This is the only public building in The Hague where the old palace function can still be experienced. The museum will celebrate its 10th year in 2012. Escher in The Palace displays nearly all the works of world famous Dutch artist M.C. Escher (1898-1972).

Six centuries of art: The Hague offers a world-class range of museums, theatres and festivals throughout the entire year. One example is the Mauritshuis, which exhibits a comprehensive collection of great (usually Dutch) masters. This top collection is temporarily relocated from the Mauritshuis to the Municipal Museum, where an entire wing is dedicated to the Dutch Masters such as Vermeer's View of Delft, The Bull by Potter and The Anatomy Lesson by Rembrandt. The Hague Municipal Museum is renowned for its vast collection of paintings by Piet Mondriaan, including the celebrated 'Victory Boogie Woogie'.
