Security and safety of NGO personnel
Given the growing security problems that non-governmental NGOs are faced with when undertaking humanitarian and other tasks, the UIA decided to undertake a study of the protection such organisations require when undertaking hazardous duties. The evaluation of this situation was conducted via a survey to "on the spot" personnel themselves. This questionnaire was prepared in collaboration between the UIA and the University of Paris 2, and the results published in the UIA's journal Transnational Associations in 1999.
Background
An overview presentation (October 2001) on hazardous mission security is available, which outlines the need and context for the survey.
