2007, from a proposal by Instituto de Astofisica de Canarias, supported by B-XB3383 - UNESCO - F-XE4356 - Programme on Man and the Biosphere (MAB), B-XB2745 - World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), B-XC1382 - International Astronomical Union (IAU) and other international conventions such as T-XT7971 - Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (Bonn Convention), T-XT9211 - Convention on Biological Diversity (Biodiversity convention) and T-XT7109 - Convention on Wetlands of International Importance Especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Convention on Wetlands).
Aims
Promote the importance of clear skies for humankind, emphasizing and introducing the value of this endangered heritage for science, education, culture, technological development, nature conservation, and tourism.
