1 Dec 1996, Limerick (Ireland), at an international women's conference. Statutes ratified at 1st official General Assembly, 8 Jul 1997, Coimbra (Portugal). As of 2009, ceased to exist.
Aims
Organize an institutional structure for feminist education and research in Europe, linking higher education and research institutions and documentation and resource centres; promote cooperation and exchange among students and staff, between institutions and professional organizations and between universities and European Commission services and other European agencies; promote the development and institutionalization of women's studies and gender research; address and act on (policy) issues concerning women's studies; create a platform from which to submit applications for funding from EU and other international organizations.
