History
Founded Jun 1974, as Association internationale pour le développement des hydrocolloides (AIDHRO). Current name adopted 1985. Also referred to in English as International Association for the Development of Natural Gums. Registered in accordance with French law.
Aims
Ensure scientific and technological services to forest and agriculture departments of gum-producing countries; undertake and promote measures leading to development and improvement of natural plant gums from land and aquatic sources; provide a location for those concerned with collection, distribution and technical or scientific research into plant hydrocolloids and their modifications to meet for exchange of views and information; promote and cooperate in training of specialists from gum-producing countries; collect scientific, technical and statistical information from whatever source; present recommendations and resolutions to governments and national and international agencies.
