Jul 1975, Morges (Switzerland), on the initiative of E-XE4161 - UNEP, B-XB0971 - FAO, B-XB3383 - UNESCO and A-XA2654 - International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN). UNEP acts as convenor. No activities reported since 2011.
Aims
Promote thematic joint programming; advise member organizations on development and implementation of relevant ecosystem and genetic resource conservation activities; contribute to interlinking and complementarity; encourage compatibility of different approaches to common problems in order to enhance synergy and harmony among member's work programmes; strive both to underpin the ethic of nature conservation and to promote sustainable use of the Earth's biosphere and ecosystems and their biotic resources.
