The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1973, Chicago IL (USA), following informal action from 1962, by the families associated with the U-XG2593 - Ecumenical Institute (EI), after working together earlier under the name Christian Faith and Life Community; modelled on aspects of historical religious orders and third orders, and emphasizing a corporate life-style of worship, study and service. As of 1999, no longer functions.

Aims

Provide a research and practical testing ground for approaches to community and family life based on a concern for the creative renewal of basic societal units; provide a forum for members and others for reflection on current historical issues and their long term resolution; act as a practical laboratory for motivational methods that sustain long term efforts of individual service applicable to any sector of society; experiment with the life of the order as a globally representative multicultural entity; provide volunteers to assist in the activities of the Institute of Cultural Affairs and the Ecumenical Institute, Chicago IL, and other service bodies responding to the needs of innocent suffering.
