1978, as Netherlands Centre for the Study of Law in South-East Asia and the Caribbean Region -- Centro Holandés para el Estudio del Derecho en el Sudeste de Asia y la Région del Caribe -- Nederlands Onderzoekscentrum voor het Recht in Zuid-Oost Azië en het Caraibisch Gebied (NORZOAC). Name changed to Van Vollenhoven Institute for Law and Administration in Non-Western Countries in 1989.

Aims

Research, teach, document and provide advisory services concerning law and administration in developing countries; enable students, practitioners and other persons to qualify themselves in this field; facilitate policy development by providing advice to government institutions and NGOs.
