History
Established on signature of an agreement by representatives of governments. Became operational 1 Jan 1988.
Successor to the unofficial Western European Metrology Club (WEMC), set up Apr 1973.
Succeeded by D-XM3658 - European Association of National Metrology Institutes (EURAMET), 2007.
Aims
Coordinate research into the development of new and improved measurement standards in a short time scale and without unnecessary duplication; support work in the fields of legal metrology and calibration services.
