The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


Dec 1972, as a joint body for West African College of Physicians (WACP) and West African College of Surgeons (WACS) (WACP and WACS are its Constituent Colleges). Originally an agency of West African Health Community (WAHC).


Supervise the promotion of, and control standards in professional postgraduate medical education in West Africa; accredit institutions for professional postgraduate medical education; assist in providing facilities for professional postgraduate medical education in disciplines or in participating countries where they do not already exist; arrange or sponsor periodic lectures by distinguished personalities; be a certifying body for professional postgraduate medical qualifications and set up appropriate examining bodies for this purpose; award diplomas of the Constituent Colleges.
