8-10 Apr 1985, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), under the auspices of Asian and Pacific Development Centre, as Asian and Pacific Energy Planning Network.

Aims

Help build or strengthen existing national capabilities in energy planning and management through the development of energy planning and management teams in countries of the Asian and Pacific region; help strengthen the capabilities of national training institutions in the region by actively involving them in the development and improvement of national training programmes; foster inter-institutional cooperation by forging a common format among member institutions for addressing training issues and needs at both national and regional levels; encourage, at a more general level, interaction among members to identify and help resolve policy issues and problems confronting national energy planning and management teams through information exchange and collaborative arrangement; expand its focus to incorporate environmental concerns to an efficiency-oriented and environmentally-constrained energy planning paradigm; establish close working associations with other existing networks, both regional and global, whose activities relate to the area of energy and environment policy and planning; offer consultancy and problem-solving advisory services, through cooperation with network members, to countries of the region.
