19 Aug 1895, London (UK), with a mixed membership of individuals and cooperative organizations. Individual membership abolished in 1902. Registered in accordance with Belgian law.


Promote and defend the cooperative enterprise; raise awareness about cooperatives; help individuals, government authorities and regional and international institutions understand the cooperative model of enterprise; help members in their lobbying for new legislation and more appropriate administrative procedures that respect the cooperative model, its principles and values; provide political support and technical expertise to enable cooperatives to compete on a level playing field; provide members with key information, best practice and contacts.
