The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).
History
late 1980s, by Osama bin Laden - also referred to as Usama Ibn Ladin - as an Islamic terrorist organization. Other titles: The Base; Islamic Army for the Liberation of the Holy Places; Islamic Salvation Foundation; Qa'idat al-Jihad; Al Qaeda. Commonly associated with the terrorist attack on the USA, 11 Sep 2001. Founded following splits within the Maktab al-Khidamat (MAK) – Services Office, co-founded by Osama bin Laden and Abdallah Azzam, mid-1980's, to coordinate and supply foreign material and human resources to the 'Mujahedeen' fighting the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.
Aims
Unite the Muslim population and establish a government based on the rule of the Caliphs; eliminate opposition and impediments to the establishment of a Caliphate.
