History
Used as a description of the institutions set up or instigated in Jul 1944, Bretton Woods NH (USA), by representatives of 45 countries at the Bretton Woods Conference. These are F-XF2266 - International Monetary Fund (IMF) and F-XF1393 - International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) (World Bank), the latter having subsequently been expanded so that, besides the IBRD, the F-XF6841 - The World Bank Group includes B-XB1791 - International Development Association (IDA) (established 1960), F-XF2057 - International Finance Corporation (IFC) (set up 1956) and F-XF1090 - Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) (set up 1988), together with E-XB1476 - International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), which was added to the Group in 1966 to provide conciliation and arbitration services. Other entities sometimes included under the BWI heading: B-XF2527 - World Trade Organization (WTO); H-XF0985 - General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT); F-XF1721 - International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
