History
Founded by 10th Meeting of the Executive Committee of H-XA1752 - International Council for Science (ICSU). Originally an ICSU interdisciplinary body. Currently an independent international organization. Current Constitution approved by 13th General Assembly, 11 Jun 2009, London (UK).
Aims
Advance knowledge of the influence of humans on the environment, as well as the effects of these environmental changes upon mankind, its health and welfare; serve as a source of advice for the benefit of governmental and inter-governmental organizations with respect to emerging ecological and environmental issues.
