Jul 1995, as IPEMB, by merger of Institute of Physical Sciences in Medicine (IPSM) and Biological Engineering Society (BES). Became operational 1 Oct 1995. Present name adopted Dec 1996. UK Registered Charity: 1047999.
Aims
Promote, for public benefit, advancement of physics and engineering applied to medicine and biology; advance public education in the field; represent the needs and interests of engineering and physical sciences in the provision or advancement of health care.
