The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Dec 1955, as West European Association of Singers -- Association des chorales d'Europe occidentale, by choral societies in Austria, Germany FR, Netherlands and Switzerland. New statutes and current German title adopted, May 1970, together with English and French titles: Federation of European Choirs -- Fédération européenne des chorales. Current English and French titles, together with new statutes, adopted 14 May 1994, Bolzano (Italy). Has also sometimes been referred to as Eurosing. Previously also referred to in English as Eurochor - Federation of European Choral Associations (AGEC). As of beginning 2011, merged with 'Europa Cantat - European Federation of Young Choirs (EFYC)' to form D-XD4519 - European Choral Association - Europa Cantat.

Aims

Encourage mutual relations and contribute towards peace and a deeper understanding of the nations through the medium of music, by exchanging literature and information concerning the choral institution, promoting cooperation in arrangement of international concerts, conferences and choral society festivals and encouraging contact between young people.

Structure

Assembly of Members (annual). Executive Committee, consisting of President, 2 Vice-Presidents and Treasurer, together with Chairman of the Music Committee, a consultative organ which comprises one musically competent representative of each member plus (ex officio) AGEC President.
