The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Feb 1988, when statutes were adopted, by D-XD0598 - European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and E-XE2442 - European Commission (EC), together with F-XF2234 - European Alliance for Television and Culture (EATC). Also referred to as Broadcasting Across the Barriers of European Language. Registered in accordance with Swiss law. Ceased to exist Dec 1995 when MEDIA I Programme was terminated.

Aims

Promote wider distribution of television programmes by: providing financial incentives for a multilingual approach to the post-production and distribution of European audiovisual works; assisting dubbing / subtitling, development of new technologies, and professional training in post-production techniques.

Steering Committee, consisting of Chairman, Vice-Chairman and 3 other members, of which 2 are appointed by European Commission, 2 by EBU and one by AETC. Consultants Committee of 7 members.
