History

to administer T-XT7499 - Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution from Land-based Sources (Paris Convention), adopted 4 Jun 1974, Paris (France), and entered into force 6 May 1978. This Convention expanded the scope of the T-XT7294 - Convention for the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping from Ships and Aircraft (Oslo Convention), adopted 15 Feb 1972, Oslo (Norway), and entered into force 6 Apr 1974, which was administered by H-XF0313 - Oslo Commission (OSCOM). PARCOM ceased to exist on entry into force, 25 Mar 1998, of the T-XT9256 - Convention for the Protection on the Marine Environment for the North-East Atlantic (OSPAR Convention), adopted 22 Sep 1992, Paris, replacing Oslo and Paris Conventions and administered by F-XF4685 - OSPAR Commission for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic (OSPAR Commission).

Aims

Supervise implementation of the Paris Convention, i e take all possible steps to prevent pollution of the sea by adopting individually and jointly measures to combat marine pollution from land-based sources.
