Founded Nov 1972, Paris (France), International Geological Correlation Programme -- Programme international de corrélation géologique -- Programa Internacional de Correlación Geológica, as a joint IUGS/UNESCO programme, on acceptance as an approved programme of B-XB3383 - UNESCO at at 17th session of UNESCO General Conference, following approval by General Assembly of A-XA2723 - International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), Aug 1972, Montréal (Canada). A joint initiative of: H-XA1752 - International Council for Science (ICSU).

Aims

Provide scientists with a multi-discipline platform to exchange knowledge and methodology on geological problems of global importance with special focus on projects related to a safer environment, the relationship between natural geological factors and health problems, biodiversity, climate change, and mineral and groundwater resources extraction.
