History
1976, within the framework of D-XD0435 - Council of Europe (CE), under resolution (76) 17 of E-XE8838 - Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, following recommendations, 1973, Vienna (Austria), of 1st Ministerial Conference on the Environment. Other relevant resolutions: (79) 9 concerning rules for the Network; (81) 8, (86) 10 and (92) 19 concerning extension of its scope. Full title: European Network of Biogenetic Reserves of the Council of Europe -- Réseau européen de réserves biogénétiques du Council de l'Europe. Programme abandoned.
Aims
Preserve biological balance and ensure effective conservation of terrestrial and aquatic habitats, biocenoses and ecosystems; guarantee biological equilibrium and survival of European natural heritage.
