The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

13 Oct 1972, Toronto (Canada), during 1st International Conference of Scholarly Publishers, originally proposed by UNESCO. Constitution amended 20 Sep 1976. Also referred to as International Federation of Scholarly Publishers (IFSP). Ceased to exist prior to 2009, on merger to form new organization.

Aims

Serve the interests of international scholarship by encouraging the dissemination of the fruits of research and scholarship; provide an organization through which the exchange of ideas relating to scholarly publishing may be facilitated, establish lines of communication; make available mutual advice and assistance on scholarly publishing; assist, in so far as may be practicable, in the development of new scholarly publishing facilities.
