1993, as a follow-up of the East and Southern Africa Rootcrops Research Network (ESARRN), established 1984 and evolving into SARRNET and U-XF3544 - Eastern Africa Root Crops Research Network (EARRNET); a joint initiative of E-XE4109 - International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA); E-XE4103 - International Potato Center; F-XF2522 - Southern African Development Community (SADC) and G-XG2898 - United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Aims
Engage in applied market-led research and development on cassava and sweet potato, including demand-led processing and utilization, commercialization and such aspects as training, information and technology exchange and institutional capacity building in order to improve food security and income generating process of rural households and emerging farmers.
