The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1946, London (UK), in the framework of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Previously referred to as UNESCO Fellowship Bank -- Banque de bourses de l'UNESCO -- Banco de Becas de la UNESCO.

Aims

Contribute to the enhancement of human resources and national capacity-building in areas closely aligned to UNESCO's expected strategic objectives and programme priorities.

Activities

Awards and administers fellowships, study and travel grants. Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme increases fellowships via co-sponsorship arrangements with interested donors and extrabudgetary funding sources. Types of fellowship depend on needs of member states and on UNESCO priority projects and national training programmes with which fellowships are linked. Fellowships are normally short-term (up to 6 months), cover individual and group training and are intended for specialized training at postgraduate level.
